How do the Arctic Heat products work?

Arctic Heat Products contain a special, non-toxic, completely biodegradable viscose gel that absorbs water. The product is considered “activated” when the gel has soaked in water for 15 minutes. The activated gel then retains the temperature it has been set at (by either heating it or cooling it) for long periods. Tests indicate that the activated gel keeps its temperature for up to 3 times longer than similar products.

What can the products be used for?

Arctic Heat products can be used for either heating or cooling. They increase productivity in the workplace, benefit people who suffer from medical conditions affected by heat and extreme temperatures and are a tool in the athlete’s arsenal of performance enhancing strategy. Arctic Heat products can also be used for muscle strains, tears or pain that requires the application of a cold or hot pack. The light weight of the gel and its flexibility mean it has many more applications than traditional cooling products.

How long will the product stay at the temperature I want?

The duration of the Arctic Heat products depends on a variety of factors - the outside or ambient temperature of the environment and the wearer’s body temperature are the most important factors affecting the gel’s ability to hold its temperature. The activated gel has the ability to hold the exact temperature that it is introduced to for a substantial period of time.

Do the vests give athletes a performance advantage?

Researchers have documented the use of cooling jackets in conserving fluids which would normally be lost when the body sweats. The onset of dehydration and the subsequent performance decrement is delayed by increasing the temperature gradient between the athlete’s core temperature and their skin temperature. The Arctic Heat vests keep the body’s skin temperature lower for longer periods thereby delaying dehydration and allowing the athlete to train at peak performance for longer periods.

How long will they last?

Arctic Heat products will last for years if properly maintained. Store in a well-ventilated room if wet. If the product is completely dry then it can be folded and packed away.

What do I have to do to clean/care for my Arctic Heat product?

Arctic Heat products are very easy to maintain. Hand was in warm soapy water for 1 minute when needed. Gently squeeze and hang to drip dry.
